"Future" fractured his leg on the track now thanks to SCRAF he has completed rehab, training and has his own loving family.
"Power" (18.2 hand TB) was going to be euthanized because he was too big and too hard to handle, now after training SCRAF found his most perfect forever home where he is a hero to a girl, her mother and, grandmother.
SCRAF traded a bucket of old used horse shoes for him as he was going to be shot.
"Woody" spent some time in SCRAF's training program & successfully competed in many US Pony Club events and is now in his forever home with his mom that spoils and adores him.
"Cracker" an Off the Track Thoroughbred, came to us when his racing career was completed but he found his true love & went on to be successful in both Pony Club and the Intercollegiate Equestrian Team with
his girl.
"Dante" an Off the Track Thoroughbred, came to us when his career was done at the track. He became a wonderful pony club horse & went on to be very successful with his own young girl showing off his talent in the Hunter ring.
"Millie" an Off the Track Thoroughbred found her true love right away. She was successful in both pony club and the Intercollegiate Equestrian Team and she moved away to college in New York with her special girl.
In 2005, we were contacted that all of these pregnant mares were going to slaughter!
They were bred to produce Premarin (the hormone used to treat Menopause & advanced stages of Breast & Prostate Cancer) but when their contract was cancelled, many people worked to set up transport to save these pregnant horses.
Sweet "Faith" was #456-OK.
She aborted her foal during transport, but "Faith" was more interested in the children from the moment the mares arrived. "Faith" was one of the first PMU mares to participate in our Training program & quickly found her own little girl. Together, they successfully learned under our SCR Training Program.
"Titan" was born at SCR
on April 22, 2005.
His mama, "Penny", was a consistent producer for the PMU project & she had many foals over the years. Once "Titan" grew up, he moved to the bay area with his loving family to become a wonderful Pony Club member and he & his kid quickly moved up the levels.
"Angel" #220-OK & Dot were meant to rescue each other! As a Thoroughbred mare with quality lines, "Angel" was always used as a "broodmare" so she was constantly pregnant. Dot and "Angel" had a special bond from the moment sweet Angel arrived at SCR. Her colt, "Sunny" is still a very treasured resident at SCR.
"Mia" #511-OK is an Appy/Qtr cross that aborted her baby during transport but she has been the most loving mare from the very beginning. She now teaches many children in SCR's homeschool program. "Mia" is our gem... she is extra gentle and extremely patient with children having special needs. We keep a close eye on "Mia" tho as she does require special medications due to her severe allergies.
"Star" #515-OK was only 3 years old and not ready to be a mama but when "Denver" was born she had no choice... She tried her best but we had to step in & provide "Denver" his supplemental "Sippy Milk" several times a day. Denver grew up living out in pasture with his mama & the other babies & would come galloping to us when called for his "Sippy Milk". Both are doing amazing and are still residents of SCR.
"Tammy" #X01-OK is a registered mare with quality lines & she produced a handsome colt named "Lance". "Tammy" was clearly the top mare of the whole heard and was an excellent baby sitter for all of the babies. Once all of the babies were grown, Tammy worked very nicely into SCR's homeschool lesson program until a family fell in love with her and she moved away with her kid. "Lance" is still a resident at SCR as he has special health needs & is looking for a sponsor to remain in our care.
"Cocoa" #54-AQ a registered Quarter Horse Mare. "Cocoa" aborted her foal during transport as well but she was happy to join into our Training program at SCR right away. It wasn't long before "Cocoa" quickly found her loving family that consisted of a young girl and her 5 brothers to
spoil her rotten.
"C'est La Vie" was a premarin baby & came to us as a yearling because she kept jumping out of her pasture.
"C'est La Vie" is a Percheron/Thoroughbred cross
and loves Eventing, Fox Hunting & Jumping. She works at SCR as a "pony horse" to lead several of the new OTTB's that arrive.
"Mary Kate" #473-OK was a young registered Appy/Qtr cross who gave birth to a beautiful colt on named "Toodles". "Mary Kate" completed our SCR Training program and was such a superstar that she quickly became a favorite. She now has her own loving owner that she enjoys taking on trail rides.
"Toodles" is available now.
"Ashley" #478-OK is a registered Appaloosa who had a beautiful bay filly named "Sierra". Both lived at SCR for several years and are now living a wonderful life trail riding in the Sierras.
Sonny was born, and developed at SCR and is such a special man. His mama is "Angel" who spent most of her life pregnant as a quality TB & then went into the PMU program to produce Premarin. "Sonny" is the go to horse from fox hunting to world cup. He can pack beginners around or have a blast with advanced riders.
"Penny" #404-OK is a registered Appaloosa who spent many years producing premarin and was a wonderful mama to her last foal, a handsome colt who was born at SCR. "Penny" is now retired and trail riding occasionally thru wine country.
A retired TB broodmare, pregnant most of her life, with a "serviceably sound" label found this lil girl that absolutely loves her.
